CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Over a week after the first significant snowfall of the season in the mountains, the ski resorts are struggling with warm temperatures .
The opening date for the winter season at Beech Mountain has been postponed from Saturday, Nov. 22 to Saturday, Nov. 29. Appalachian Ski Resort announced on Tuesday that it will not be opening as planned on Friday.
Sugar Mountain already kicked things off on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with fresh natural and manmade powder.
“Running a ski resort is a little bit like farming… but you’re farming snow. You’re at the mercy of Mother Nature for a good product," Talia Freeman, Director of Marketing, said.
