Russian tea season has arrived. It is like pumpkin spice season, only way better. It lasts longer. It uses only the best of the pumpkin spices. And if you are careful with your Mason jar of tea fixings, you can make it last until next year’s Russian tea season arrives.
I was introduced to Russian tea as a college freshman. Our resident advisor was a little bit Russian. She spoke a little bit of Russian. And she had a huge tin full of Russian tea mix, which she shared with us a little bit at a time.
She told us we must wait for the perfect night to be introduced to Russian tea. The nights got colder. It got dark earlier. Halloween passed. Thanksgiving break was over.
Finally, she pulled out the tin of homemade tea mix. We sat in a circle on her floor. It was a BYO mug affair. We waited.
