SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) - Dedicated to working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, the Springfield Police Department has launched a new Street Outreach Team.

The two officers assigned to the unit began their duties on November 17. The team’s mission focuses on three primary goals: engaging with individuals and connecting them with local programs and services, encouraging the use of available resources to support long-term stability, and enforcing applicable state and municipal laws, when necessary, to maintain public safety.
