LINCOLN, Neb. —

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Senate voted in favor of ousting the current chancellor.

On Tuesday, the senate faculty voted 60-14 for a vote of no-confidence for UNL Chancellor Rodney Bennett, who plans to eliminate four programs to axe over $27 million as part of the budget plan.

The vote of no-confidence sends a formal request to the Nebraska Board of Regents and University President Jeffrey Gold to review the chancellor.

It's the first time in over 20 years the faculty senate has elected to use a vote of no-confidence.

Several faculty members spoke before the vote as the forum focused on the budget cuts and what many members called a lack of communication from the chancellor.
