DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 19-year-old has been arrested in a murder investigation where a woman was shot and killed early Halloween morning in DeKalb County.
DeKalb County Police said Janiya Bates was taken into custody on Tuesday. She will be taken to the DeKalb County Jail for a malice murder charge. Officers said 26-year-old Kennedy Sanders died from her injuries on Oct. 31.
Officers were called to a scene in the 3700 block of Conley Downs Drive at River Road, a little after 3 a.m., in reference to a person shot. Once they arrived, they found a woman in her Sanders with a gunshot wound, police said.
