WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - Jamaica continues to recover after Hurricane Melissa devastated the country last month.

Thousands across the island nation are still without power or basic necessities many of us can take for granted.

Joseph Ochieng and his organization God Provides Ministries International are hoping to make a difference.

“We believe that we are going to make a dent, a little bit,” said Joseph Ochieng, founder of God Provides Ministries International.

They are filling two trucks with food, water, shoes, clothes, blankets and toilet paper. All things that thousands of people in Jamaica are struggling to get by without.

“But you know considering the situation, the whole area category five, a lot of devastation. So, whatever we can do, any little bit of it helps,” Ochieng said.
