MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Police have announced an arrest in connection with a fight that ended in stabbing in a Mesa neighborhood in late September that turned deadly.
Mesa police said Tuesday that 29-year-old Robert Castillo was arrested on accusations of second-degree murder and aggravated assault charges.
Officers were called out to Barkley just south of Main Street around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 29. Police arrived to find a man who had been stabbed multiple times in the torso, according to court documents.
At the time, police had said that a fight had broken out before the attack. However, court records detailed that surveillance footage showed Castillo talking with the victim before he allegedly stabbed him, which was also captured on video.
