SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - New body camera video and 911 calls from an officer-involved shooting in Akron last week has been released.
An Akron police officer shot a reportedly intoxicated man who was allegedly pointing a semi-automatic handgun at citizens, the Akron Police Department and the Akron Police Union confirmed.
According to a statement released by Akron Mayor Malik, the man did not have a gun on his person at the time he encountered our officers, even though callers reported he was armed.
BCI will investigate to determine whether the suspect had a gun prior to the shooting.
Officers were called to the 2700 block of Albrecht Avenue for a fight at approximately 9:03 p.m. on Nov. 11, APD stated.
