TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Deer season begins at the end of September and lasts until February. Deer gun season starts Dec. 1 and lasts through Dec. 7. This is when firearms are permitted to hunt deer and this period of time is normally when the most deer are harvested.
The Ohio Division of Wildlife is hosting Deer Donation Days for the very first time, where hunters can donate their deer. The meat will then be processed and dispersed to local food pantries.
The only cost to the hunter is a hunting license and a deer permit for each deer. Each deer must also have been recently harvested, unprocessed and taken to a drop-off location. See dates, times, and locations below:
The drop off location within the viewing area is Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area in Wyandot County.
