COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Short North Alliance is planning to increase crime prevention efforts in the neighborhood following two instances of violence on the same block in the last week.
On Friday, around 7 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing involving two people near the intersection of North High Street and 4th Avenue. Officers said the two people involved were unhoused.
Then, on Monday night, police responded to a shooting on the same block around 6 p.m. Police said the suspect, 23-year-old Dejai Preston, was walking home from the store when he got into an argument with another group of people and shot at the victim multiple times. Preston is charged with felonious assault.
At least one stray bullet hit the door leading to the apartments between Brew Dog and Ox-B’s.
