Police are investigating after a body was discovered in a park in Norwich on Tuesday.

Officers responded to Uncas Leap Heritage Park on Yantic Street around 11:07 a.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual, according to the Norwich Police Department.

Officers located a person within the park who was pronounced dead, police said. The person’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicated that “no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death,” police said, adding that there was no threat to the public.
