Syracuse, N.Y. — Firefighters put out a fire on the first floor of a vacant Syracuse home in under 10 minutes Tuesday evening.
Around 5:09 p.m., firefighters were called to 309 Putnam St., where they found smoke coming from the house, according to Capt. Erik Caster, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.
Firefighters went in the back of the house and found the fire on the first floor. They were able to put it out quickly and did not find anyone inside.
No injuries were reported, Caster said.
The fire caused damage to the first floor, with smoke and water damage throughout the house. Fire investigators determined the flames started in the first floor living area, but the cause is still under investigation, Caster said.
