A man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a reported stabbing in Vernon on Tuesday.

Police said they were called to the area of Prospect and Ward streets for a stabbing around 4:40 p.m.

Responding officers found a man in his 40s with several stab wounds. He was taken to Rockville General Hospital, and was later transported to Hartford Hospital by a LifeStar helicopter.

Police are looking for a suspect, but say the area is safe and there is no threat to the public.

Authorities aren't sure if the suspect and victim knew each other. The incident remains under investigation.
