STERLING HEIGHTS – Finishing a distance back in the pack at the state finals can add fuel to the fire for the next season.

That is the case with Sterling Heights Stevenson senior Aneeka Mondal.

The diver/swimmer has gradually improved as a diver over her four seasons competing for the Titans. Now, she wants to have her strongest finish to date.

“I have been working really hard to get better,” said Mondal at this year’s Macomb County Championships. “I’ve been (increasing difficulty) levels and really trying to add a lot more to my dives.”

Mondal, who also swims relays as well as the 100 backstroke in many dual meets and invitational-style meets for Stevenson, has really stepped up her game this season.
