LAKE VIEW, Ala. —
>>Weather forecast is above
It appears a Tuscaloosa County community has voted to support its fire department with increased dues.
Residents in the Lake View Fire Protection District took part in a special election to decide whether to pay $150 per year.
The fire district said the increase in dues will help support having two firefighters responding per shift, investing in new firefighting equipment and vehicles and help with rising operating costs.
Information from the fire district showed there had not been an increase in fire dues since 2004.
The special election preliminary results show 266 yes votes and 256 no votes, with absentee ballots showing four yes and two no.
There are four provisional ballots which have yet to be counted.
