Two high school girls volleyball teams in very unfamiliar territory when Ferndale took on Flat Rock in a Division 2 state quarterfinal matchup at Saline High School on Tuesday night Flat Rock came into the tilt fresh off capturing the program’s first-ever regional title in the sport last week, doing so with a hard-earned sweep of Huron League rival Milan. Meanwhile for Ferndale, their thrilling five-set win over Harper Woods Chandler Park grabbed them their first quarterfinals appearance in nearly 50 years.

Unfortunately for the upstart Eagles from Ferndale, the opposition simply proved to be too much to handle Tuesday night as the No. 10-ranked Rams from Flat Rock rolled to a sweep (25-5, 25-11, 25-8) and punched their ticket to the D2 state semifinals.
