And that interjection explained everything about the atmosphere of Tuesday’s Division 1 quarterfinal match between the Trojans and No. 3-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy, one which didn’t feature a whole lot of celebration — more a sigh of relief — from the victorious Marlins, and next to no tears from the vanquished Trojans. Mercy (40-5-3) swept Trenton (30-11), 25-12, 25-13, 25-5, advancing to Thursday’s semifinals at Battle Creek’s Kellogg Arena, where they’ll face Byron Center (37-5-2) at 4:30 p.m.
