TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - In a 5-0 vote, the Sierra Vista Unified School District Governing Board unanimously approved the consolidation of Bella Vista Elementary on Tuesday night.
Which school Bella Vista will be consolidating with has not yet been decided.
This all comes as the district faces a $4 million deficit for the 2025-2026 school year. While the district will likely be able to cut that number in half with current changes, more is required, and this consolidation seems to be the solution.
Over the past decade, the SVUSD has lost more than 2,000 students, leaving more than 3,000 seats empty across the district.
