New Liberal leader Jess Wilson has slammed Victoria’s Treaty laws despite having been a supporter of the Voice to Parliament.
Ms Wilson was elevated to the leadership of the Victorian Liberal Party on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after a cross-factional group of MPs informed Brad Battin he had lost the support of the partyroom.
The first-term MP is viewed as highly competent with the Liberal Party and has been praised as a “rare political talent” .
However the 35-year-old has also taken fire for having been the only Victorian Liberal MP to have supported the Voice to parliament, with some Victorians questioning whether she will seek to walk away from the Coalition’s commitment to repeal the indigenous treaty recently passed by the Victorian parliament.
