COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Remember the panic in June when Ohio State’s recruiting class seemed to be lagging behind? Those concerns now look laughably premature as the Buckeyes have orchestrated one of the most impressive late-cycle recruiting surges in recent memory, systematically flipping elite talent from other blue-blood programs and proving that patience in recruiting is indeed a virtue.

“When we’re doing these conversations in June, we don’t have to have freakout conversations anymore,” Stephen Means explained on a recent Buckeye Talk podcast. “Because coming into the season, they were trending downward. They had the number nine class in the country two weeks ago. Now they’re at number six and I think they’re going to finish with a top five class.”
