This season of Dancing with the Stars has flown by, and the semifinals took place on Tuesday night as the group was whittled down to five finalists for the 3-hour finale next week. The contestants performed two numbers each, and every dance was to a song from Prince's catalog.
So who went home just short of the finish line?
In a shocking elimination, Whitney Leavitt and her partner Mark Ballas were the couple to go home this week. Leavitt, who is known from her role on the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, had consistently scored some of the highest scores from judges on the show thanks to her technique and fun personality. This week, Leavitt and Ballas earned a 29 for both their Cha Cha and Viennese Waltz.
Despite her high scores, Leavitt might have lost some public votes this week. With the release of Season 3 of The The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives last week, some viewers felt Leavitt's way of getting on to the long-running dancing competition show was disingenuous. Leavitt, who has been in that "villain" role on the show for two seasons, had taken a break from the filming of Mormon Wives. But when the ladies were offered the opportunity to try for Dancing with the Stars, Leavitt decided to return to chase her dream of hitting the ballroom.
The three-hour finale of Dancing with the Stars airs live on ABC on November 25.
