A man has been found dead by police after officers responded to reports of someone 'in a canal' in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said officers had been called to Bordesley Green East, close to the River Cole, at 1.20pm on Tuesday. There, they made a heartbreaking discovery.
A police spokesman confirmed: "We were called to Bordesley Green East at around 1.20pm yesterday (18 November) to reports of a man in a canal. "Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner in due course."
A West Midlands Ambulance service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive : "We were called to an incident in an area off Bordesley Green East in Yardley, Birmingham at 1.48pm.
"We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene
