An Israeli team is competing in the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The 17 Israeli athletes taking part are competing in basketball, tennis, swimming, karate and pole athletics, a team spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
The centennial competition, which runs from November 15-26 in the Japanese capital, encompasses nearly 2,500 deaf athletes from about 80 nations.
Israel has been participating in the Deaflympics since 1957.
“As I walk around the arena in Tokyo and see our team representing Israel with unparalleled respect, I could not be more proud,” said Ido Rosink, head of the team.
