JEFFERSON PARISH, La. —

Jefferson Parish homeowners are feeling like they are getting the short end of the stick. They said they thought they would be receiving a lower flood insurance rate following an announcement made by the parish in September.

Many residents in unincorporated Jefferson Parish said they thought they would receive a 35% reduction in their rates. But instead, many are experiencing the opposite.

Cliff said, "Any increase on any price ... is hard to cover."
