COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The trial in the 2021 killing of a young Cobb County couple continued for a second day before a judge Tuesday. The proceedings have featured testimony from law enforcement officers and then video of a police interview with the accused killer Matthew Lanz's parents.

Lanz has waived his right to a jury trial and is instead undergoing a bench trial at the Cobb County Courthouse in Marietta.

The parents described some of what had already been detailed in court, but from their perspective -- that Lanz had come home from Athens, where he was studying at UGA, the night of the murders, but did not come inside the family home.
