GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- A man who drove past a police checkpoint at a Donald Trump rally in Walker, telling an officer he had C4, has been found guilty of four criminal charges.

Following a two-day trial , a jury found 66-year-old Steven William Nauta guilty of false report of terrorism, an explosives charge, resisting police and fleeing police.

Testimony showed that Nauta was in a Jeep on Sept. 27, 2024 outside a Donald Trump rally at FALK Production, a metal panel manufacturer in Walker.

He approached a police traffic point, told an officer he had tickets and then said he had C4. He dumped an unknown can out the window and some paperwork before hitting the gas and driving past officers telling him to stop.

Other police soon stopped the Jeep.
