BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Federal prosecutors will officially seek the death penalty for a man accused of killing two Massachusetts men.

A new indictment filed this week charges Theodore Bland of Stowe with eight separate drug and gun charges.

He is accused of killing two men from Massachusetts -- Eric White and Jahim Solomon -- in October 2023 and dumping their bodies in the woods in Eden. They say Bland shot both men and that everyone involved was part of a drug-dealing ring.

Prosecutors argue the death penalty is justified in two of the charges. They initially discussed the death penalty last month after U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi gave them the green light.

Bland is due back in federal court in February.
