ONE POLICE PLAZA — NYPD COMMISSIONER Jessica Tisch, whom current Mayor Eric Adams appointed a year ago to lead the nation’s largest police force, has agreed to continue in this role under the next administration , she and Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani announced on Wednesday, Nov. 19, according to several news sources .
The New York Times reported that Tisch, in an email memo to her officers, stated that Mamdani has “asked me to serve as police commissioner in his administration, and after several conversations with him, I have agreed. Leading this department is the greatest privilege of my life, and I am proud to continue doing it.”
Mamdani, in a joint statement, said, “I look forward to working with Commissioner Jessica Tisch to deliver genuine public safety in New York City. I
