(NewsNation) — The U.S. Postal Service announced the return of its “Operation Santa” for those looking to help spread some holiday cheer.
For more than 100 years, USPS has been working with employees and volunteers to respond to letters from Santa at Christmas. Volunteers anonymously adopt letters to Santa from those in need and work with USPS to send requested gifts.

“Every year, we receive far more letters than those adopting. So, if you have the means, we encourage you to adopt a letter,” said Sheila Holman, USPS vice president of marketing.
Starting this year, USPS announced it is putting a special emphasis on family letters to ensure those from the same household are adopted and fulfilled together.
