A 48-year-old man who was killed Nov. 16 when he crashed his car on I-277 and then wandered onto the highway before being fatally struck , has been identified by the Summit County's Medical Examiner's office as Dmitry Chernikov from Akron.
According to a release from Akron police Lt. Michael Murphy, officers responded at approximately 10:50 a.m. to a car accident with injuries on I-277 West just after Manchester Road.
Witnesses reported that Chernikov was driving a gray Tesla and had been traveling at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of traffic before crashing into a barrier, Murphy said.
