SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Indiana senators voted to adjourn until January , pushing back discussions of mid-decade redistricting to early 2026 and resisting pressure from President Trump to redraw congressional maps.
The Senate voted 29-18 to adjourn until Jan. 5, 2026, when the regular session starts. Nineteen Republicans joined 10 Democrats to pass the motion.
Among Michiana lawmakers, Linda Rogers was the only state senator in the area who voted not to adjourn. Her office did not immediately respond to WNDU 16 News Now’s requests for comment.
Republican Blake Doriot, who represents Elkhart County, voted yes to adjourn and issued a statement about redistricting.
