INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Senate is moving forward with plans not to meet before the 2026 Legislative Session begins in January, continuing to signal they will not take up redistricting.

By a vote of 29 to 18, the Senate overwhelming voted to adjourn for more than three days, effectively ending their business until the regular session starts on Jan. 5.

Nineteen Republicans joined the 10 Democrats in the Senate to easily pass the motion.

They were meeting for Organization Day, the ceremonial start of the legislative season. Previously, both the House and Senate had planned to meet on Dec. 1 to work on redistricting, after Gov. Mike Braun (R-Indiana) called for a special session.
