LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio -- Toys For Tots in Lorain County is calling on Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville residents and businesses to help out with the 2025 drive.
Demand is up while collections are down.
Toys For Tots had 7,000 applications last year, and only a week into their annual campaign, they’re already at 3,500 applications and rising.
And drop sites are also down significantly, from a goal of 200 to a reality of 120 throughout the county.
Program coordinator Christy Howard said the campaign is in dire need of not only toys, but dollars and also gifts for tweens and teens.
Often, when folks think of toys, they think of toys for tots and young children, she said.
But the need is actually strongest for children ages 9 and older.
