CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A deadly crash closed all lanes of Interstate 485 in north Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon.

The wreck happened around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, along I-485 Outer at mile marker 21 near Interstate 77.

According to Medic, one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, noting travelers should expect “heavy delays.”

The North Carolina Department of Transportation estimated the highway would reopen around 5 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the collision or how many vehicles may have been involved.
