WASHINGTON — Federal officials arrested ten people connected to a former Olympic snowboarder and his alleged drug empire in what they called "operation giant slalom."
The federal operation, which saw the arrest of people in three countries, stems from the event former Olympian Ryan James Wedding competed in at the 2002 Olympics.
Among those arrested were seven people from Canada, two from Columbia and one Columbian national legally residing in Florida:
The news of the arrests comes as federal prosecutors announced a new indictment against Wedding and several other people who are still fugitives wanted in connection with the drug-running operation.
