BURRVILLE, New York (WWNY) - A Copenhagen contractor faces felony charges for allegedly ripping off a Burrville business.
State police charged 50-year-old Ronald Herzig with grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing, and a lien law violation, all felonies.
He also faces workers’ compensation misdemeanors.
Investigators said the Burrville Cider Mill paid Herzig $308,000 to complete a construction job, but the funds were used for both project expenses and personal purchases and not maintained in a required trust account.
They said nearly $60,000 in project funds is unaccounted for.
Police also said Herzig claimed to have paid more than $21,000 to a spray foam company for work on the project, but the payment was never made.
