PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona’s schools chief is congratulating dozens of schools that have improved in core subjects this year.
On Wednesday, the Arizona Department of Education released a list of 108 schools across Arizona that are no longer in “ school improvement ” status. The status is deemed when a school needs to raise its academic performance based on federal standards. States are required to help the lowest-performing 5% of Title I schools.
Schools followed an improvement plan focusing on core subjects, like reading and math, according to Superintendent Tom Horne. He also credited Project Momentum for school growth and improvement.
