Two Connecticut dental offices have agreed to pay $714,446 to resolve allegations they paid a third party to refer Medicaid patients for lucrative services.
The six-figure agreement involved Dent Plus Family Dentistry and L&M Family Dentistry as well as their owners, Ivan Makar and Oleg Losin, according to a statement issued by Connecticut Attorney General William Tong . They agreed to pay nearly $715,000 to resolve the allegations in violations of the federal and state False Claims Acts.
Tong said the agreement settled allegations that the practices violated state and federal False Claims Act statutes through prohibited fees paid to a “patient recruiting” company.
