JACKSON, MI — Customers lined out the door of the beloved Pickle Barrel Deli on Wednesday, Nov. 19, gearing up once again to indulge in custom-made sandwiches after an eight-year hiatus.

Owner Sharon Collins officially reopened the restaurant, a local favorite, Wednesday. Many customers were happy to see the deli make its return, including Kyra Jankowski of Jackson, who said she worked at the restaurant before it closed in 2017.

She missed the food the most, she said. She kept tabs on the restaurant’s Facebook page about its opening date and was excited to take her partner Mike Hudson, who has never eaten at the restaurant, she said.

“It was such a welcoming environment, I mean everybody from Jackson, especially downtown, knew about it,” Jankowski said.
