For the sixth year in a row, EPB and the Tennessee Valley Authority are investing in a utility assistance fund aimed at helping Chattanooga-area residents in need. The initiative, known as the EPB PowerShare Program, channels support through the United Way of Greater Chattanooga.

J.Ed Marston, EPB’s Vice President of Strategic Communications, says the partnership will contribute $180,000 this year to help EPB customers facing financial challenges. EPB invested $90,000 to the program, and TVA matched that.

“Together we're gonna be putting $180,000 into a fund at United Way to support people with their emergency needs,” Marston said.

Formerly called the Bridge Fund, the program provides assistance with essential needs such as groceries, electric bills, and housing.
