NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The State of Tennessee is gearing up to appeal the decision to temporarily halt the National Guard’s deployment in Memphis.
Gov. Bill Lee’s office notified the courts on Wednesday, and the official appeal will likely coming during the week of Thanksgiving.
Earlier, a Davidson County Chancery Court issued a ruling that Lee acted beyond his authority in the National Guard’s deployment. The court added that there was no “grave emergency,” “disaster” or request from leaders in Memphis for the deployment.
