A dump truck hit and killed a Connecticut pedestrian in Bloomfield on Wednesday morning, Nov. 19.

First responders were called to the area of West Newberry Road around 6:20 a.m. and found an unresponsive man lying on the ground. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Police have not released the man's name until they can speak to his family.

Investigators found the International 2000 series dump truck near Woodland Avenue and Wintonbury Avenue. The driver told police they did not realize they'd hit a pedestrian.

No charges have been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Truck Squad inspected the truck as part of standard protocol.
