GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County Schools is considering a major shift in its bond project plan that would pause construction of the future Katherine G. Johnson school near Colfax and reallocate more than $ 90 million to Northwood Elementary’s rebuild in High Point.

District leaders presented the proposal at Monday night’s Board of Education meeting .

District officials said they reviewed both current enrollment and long-term projections for the schools around the planned Katherine G. Johnson site. Those numbers show the area is not growing the way earlier forecasts suggested, and several nearby schools are already seeing declining enrollment.
