CLARKDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Scary moments for passengers onboard a scenic train ride outside of Sedona on Tuesday when severe weather caused a rock slide, stranding them.

Emergency crews were called out to the Verde Valley Canyon Railroad in Clarkdale just before 7 p.m. for a rescue because the rocks were blocking the train tracks.

Verde Valley Canyon Railroad officials said they ended the train trip early because of the severe weather and were on their way back. The train couldn’t return to the depot, which was about one mile away.

First responders got to the scene by shuttle, where they inspected the train and evaluated the passengers.

It took several trips but crews managed to get everyone off the train and back to the depot, officials said.
