A Santa Rosa police motor officer was injured after colliding with a vehicle while responding to a call for service Tuesday, according to authorities.
Tuesday, Santa Rosa police said the officer told the department about the crash at around 5:40 p.m., and that it happened as he was responding to a call for service.
Police reported the officer was riding a SRPD BMW motorcycle north on Mendocino Avenue, just north of Steele Lane, when the driver of a white Subaru Outback exited the parking lot in the 2200 block of Mendocino Avenue and tried to cross into the southbound lanes of traffic.
The officer ended up colliding with the vehicle as it passed in front of him, despite trying to use “emergency braking techniques,” according to the police department.
The officer sustained minor injuries
