ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KVOA) - Residents of Oro Valley were surprised by an unexpected hailstorm on Wednesday afternoon, as gray clouds rolled in and brought more than just rain.
Mark Platt, a longtime Oro Valley resident, was one of many who captured the event on video. Platt, who has lived in the area for 30 years, was at home when he told News 4 Tucson the hail became louder than his television.
“Not in a long time, I mean we get snow every couple of years, but I haven’t seen hail like that in a while,” Platt said.
The hail, which Platt estimated to be about a quarter of an inch, lasted only for a few minutes. Platt and residents News 4 Tucson spoke with near West Naranja Drive and La Cholla Boulevard reported no damage to their homes. The storm left yards briefly white before the hail m
