ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KVOA) - Amphitheater Public Schools held its first community meeting on Wednesday to discuss a proposal to close four elementary schools, including Copper Creek Elementary. Superintendent Todd Jaeger announced the potential closures Monday , citing a decline in student enrollment.
More than 80 people attended Wednesday night’s meeting. Jaeger addressed how the possible closures of four elementary schools, including Copper Creek, would affect students and staff.
Juliana Olivarez got emotional talking about how the potential closure would impact her grandson,
"My daughter explained to my grandson that they would be closing it, and he’s struggling. He's only six and doesn’t understand what that would mean for him," Olivarez told News 4 Tucson.
If Copper Creek closes,
