CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio Sen. Casey Weinstein, who defeated a candidate now accused of using embezzled funds to boost his campaign, is stepping in to help an organization prosecutors say his former opponent stole from.

Weinstein, a Hudson Democrat, said in a Facebook post that he and his wife were donating money to the Fraternal Order of Police Associates in Stow, a civilian group that raises funds to support officers.

The post came after federal prosecutors charged Jonathan Leissler , Weinstein’s 2024 opponent, with embezzling more than $4.5 million from a Warrensville Heights company and the FOPA.
