The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 9:12 p.m. on Wednesday for fog until Thursday at midnight for Jefferson County.

"Regional observations indicate patchy freezing fog across Jefferson County this evening, particularly the northern and central portions of the county including the Watertown Metro area. This may result in slippery surfaces, black ice on area roads, and sharply reduced visibilities. The freezing fog is expected to persist through at least midnight. If you will be traveling in the area tonight, be sure to slow down, be prepared for areas of black ice, and rapidly changing visibilities," describes the weather service.
