GREENSBORO, N.C. — Believe it or not, the week of Thanksgiving is fast approaching and could bring impactful weather to the Piedmont Triad. Now, we are too far out for exact specifics, but we can get an idea of what to expect by examining a few weather tools. Here's what your WFMY Weather Team is tracking.
Watching the Jet Stream for Forecast Clues
One of the tools that we can use is looking at the trend in the upper air pattern or jet stream. Are there any dips or ridges in it? A dip or trough means cooler and wet weather, while a ridge can indicate drier and milder weather.
At the start of the week, we're likely to be warmer than average. The jet stream will be pretty far to the north. However, changes are likely as the week goes along.
